Justification

Our motivation to perform this research was the importance to determine, understand, analyze and identify the effects of parents` involvement on children education. The parents’ role in the learning process of their children is fundamental in the kids’ life, inasmuch as, children follow the example of their parents in all aspects. We pretend with this research that through the Cooperative Language Learning among teachers, parents and third graders have a significant contribution in the English Learning environment.

This subject arose a special interest in because it has a high degree of applicability in our environment as future teachers. Besides, it is a topic with which I have the opportunity to discover many experiential things in the different levels that will allow further development and knowledge about. Since as teachers, we have the responsibility not only to answer the specific questions to the intellectual life of students but also we should help in different ways like:  the English Foreign Language learning is surrounded of a healthy environment in their home and school.

Educate does not mean that parents must have great knowledge, techniques or methodologies, if they think with love, tolerance and respect their children will perceive and receive the teachings in the same way. However, some parents ignore the importance of being with children in the educational process… Are parents educating their children? What should we do for children happy and responsible people? A child becomes businessman, executive, president, doctor or raider, thief, murderer and kidnapper among others… his / her future depends of the education that he or she receives in his / her closer circle: “the family”.

According to Henderson and Berla (1994), “the most accurate predictor of a student`s achievement in school is not income or social status but the extent to which that student`s family is able to:

  •  Create a home environment that encourages learning.
  •  Express high (but not unrealistic) expectations for their children`s achievement and future careers.
  • Become involved in their children`s education at school and in the community (p. 160).

Taking into account, the importance of parental involvement as a motivating factor in their children`s education is a worldwide-accepted fact. This research “Parents` Role in the Children`s Learning Process” seek to determine, identify and analyze: What is the effect of parents’ role in the English Learning Process of third graders? Through several observations, surveys, interviews, activities in general and personal accompaniment.
